About The Poet-

Alfred Lord Tennyson was born at Somerby on August 6, 1809. His father's name was George Tennyson. His father was also a well-known poet of his time. 

अल्फ्रेड लॉर्ड टेनिसन का जन्म 6 अगस्त, 1809 को सोमरबी में हुआ था। उनके पिता का नाम जॉर्ज टेनिसन था। उनके पिता भी अपने समय के एक प्रसिद्ध कवि थे।

About The Lesson-

In this poem, King Arthur gives the last message to his follower, Sir Bedivere, that change is the law of nature. It is necessary for the maintenance of the world.

इस कविता में, राजा आर्थर अपने अनुयायी, सर बेदिवेरी को अंतिम संदेश देते हैं, यह परिवर्तन प्रकृति का नियम है। यह दुनिया के रखरखाव के लिए आवश्यक है।

Para- 1:

And slowly answered Arthur from the barge:

The old order changeth, yielding place to new.

And God fulfills Himself in many ways,

Last one good custom should corrupt the world. 

नाव से राजा आर्थर ने धीरे-से Bedivere को उत्तर दिया, 

पुरानी प्रणाली बदलती है तथा उसके स्थान पर नए प्रणाली आती है।

ईस्वर अपनी इच्छाओं को अनेक विधियों से पूरी करता है, 

क्योंकि कहीं ऐसा ना हो कि एक अच्छी प्रथा संसार को नष्ट कर दे।"

Para- 2:

Comfort thyself: What comfort is in me? 

I have lived my life, and that which I have done 

May He within Himself make pure! but thou,

If you shouldst never see my face again,

Pray for my soul. More things are wrought by prayer. 

राजा आर्थर ने  Bedivere से आगे कहा- 

तुम अपने अंदर धैर्य रखो।  मैं तुम्हें क्या धैर्य दे सकता हूं? 

मैंने तो अपना जीवन व्यतीत कर लिया है।  जो कुछ मैंने किया है 

ईस्वर उसे स्वीकार करेगा तथा त्रुटि के लिए उसे क्षमा करेंगा। यदि तुम मुझे फिर ना देख कर सको अर्थात यदि मेरी मृत्यु हो जाए, तो तुम मेरी आत्मा की शांति के लिए भगवान से प्रार्थना करना। 

Para- 3:

Than this world dreams of. Wherefore, let the voice 

Rise like a fountain for me Night and Day.

राजा आर्थर ने योद्धा Bedivere से कहा,

संसार के व्यक्ति सोच भी नहीं सकते, प्रार्थना के द्वारा उससे अधिक कार्य हो सकता है। 

जिस प्रकार किसी फव्वारे से पानी की छीटें निकल कर उत्तरोत्तर ऊपर जाते हैं ,

उसी प्रकार तुम्हें अपनी आवाज द्वारा दिन रात मेरे लिए प्रार्थना करते रहना चाहिए। 

Para- 4:

For what are men better than sheep and goats, 

That nourish a blind life within the brain. 

If, knowing God, they lift not hands of prayer

Both for themselves and those who called them friends? 

For so the whole round earth is every way 

Bound by gold chain about the feet of God.

But now, farewell!

राजा आर्थर ने प्रार्थना की महान शक्ति के बारे में बताते हुए कहा-

वे मनुष्य भेड़ बकरीयों  से बढ़कर नहीं है,

जो मस्तिष्क प्राप्त कर आध्यात्मिक दृष्टि से अंधा अर्थात ज्ञानरहित जीवन बिताते हैं।

ईश्वर को जान कर भी वे स्वयं के लिए तथा उनके लिए जिन्हें मित्र कहते हैं,

हाथ उठाकर प्रार्थना नहीं करते हैं।  

प्रार्थना एक कड़ी है जो सोने की जंजीर की सहायता से इस विश्व को ईश्वर के चरणों में बांधती है।
