About The Poet-

Swami Vivekananda was born on Monday, February 12, 1862, in a well-known family in Kolkata. His earlier name was Narendra Nath Dutta. His mother's name was Bhuvaneshwari Devi. She was a well-educated lady. He passed his High School from a famous Institute of  Pt. Ishwar Chandra Vidhya Sagar.

स्वामी विवेकानंद का जन्म सोमवार, 12 फरवरी, 1862 को कोलकाता के एक जाने-माने परिवार में हुआ था। उनका पहले का नाम नरेंद्र नाथ दत्ता था। उनकी माता का नाम भुवनेश्वरी देवी था। वह एक पढ़ी-लिखी महिला थीं। उन्होंने अपना हाईस्कूल प्रसिद्ध संस्थान पं. ईश्वर चंद्र विद्या सागर से पास किया।

About The Lesson-

The poem, 'The Song Of The Free', composed by Swami Vivekananda disclose his faith in divine character and its ultimate goal on earth. He says that human life is full of suffering and difficulties yet we should not be disheartened. The world is full of pain and misery but one who believes in God is not afraid of all these.

स्वामी विवेकानंद द्वारा रचित 'द सॉन्ग ऑफ द फ्री' कविता दिव्य चरित्र और पृथ्वी पर अपने अंतिम लक्ष्य में उनके विश्वास का खुलासा करती है। वह कहते हैं कि मानव जीवन दुखों और कठिनाइयों से भरा है फिर भी हमें निराश नहीं होना चाहिए। दुनिया दर्द और दुख से भरी है लेकिन जो ईश्वर को मानता है वह इन सब से नहीं डरता।

Para- 1:

The wounded snake its hood unfurls,

The flame Stirred up doth blaze,

The desert air resounds the calls

Of heart-struck Lion's rage:

The cloud puts forth its deluge strength,

When lighting cleaves its breast,

When the soul is stirred to its inmost depth,

Great ones unfold their best!

घायल कर दिया गया सांप अपने फन फैला लेता है,

यदि अग्नि को कुरेदा जाए तो उसमें लपट भड़क उठती है,

जब घायल सिंह क्रोध से दहाड़ता है 

तब रेगिस्तान की हवा उससे गूंज उठती है।  

जब आकाशी बिजली बादल का सीना चीर देती है, 

तो बादल अपनी बाढ़ लाने वाली शक्ति का प्रदर्शन करता है। 

जब आत्मा को उसकी सबसे अधिक गहराई तक छेड़ दिया जाता है,

तो महान जन अपने सर्वश्रेष्ठ (योग्यता ) का उद्घाटन करते हैं। 

Para- 2:

Let eyes grow dim and ears grow faint,

And friendship fails and love betray.

Let fate its hundred horrors send,

And clotted darkness block the way-

And nature were one angry frown,

To crush you out-still know my soul,

You are divine, March on and on,

Nor right nor left, but to the goal!

आंखें कमजोर होती हैं तो हो जाने दो।  ह्रदय  निर्बल होता है तो हो जाने दो। 

मित्रता विफल होती है तो हो जाने दो। प्रेम में धोखा होता है तो हो जाने दो।  

भाग्य एक सौ परेशानियाँ भेजता है तो भेजने दो।  

यदि घना अंधेरा राह को रोकता है तो रोकने दो। 

और यदि प्रकृति तुम्हें नष्ट करने को अपनी भृकुटि चढ़ा लेती है

तो चढ़ा लेने दो। 

मेरी आत्मा जान ले कि तू दिव्य है, निरंतर आगे बढ़ती चल, 

न दाएं मुड़ न बाय बढ़ती चल सिर्फ लक्ष्य की ओर।
